Looking for a water adventure other than the lake? Pontiac is just 30 miles from the North Fork River, an acclaimed trout fishing stream that offers several float trip options, canoe rentals, lodging, dining and more. Take a day trip to one of the many outfitters along the river, where you can rent canoes, kayaks or rafts, grab lunch, catch a fish and enjoy the scenery and wildlife you’re sure to encounter on a relaxing and fun float down the river.

Ozark County is home to five grist mills that make up a popular daytrip driving tour in our area. Maps are available at the marina store. Take a driving tour of Dawt Mill, Hodgson Mill, Zanoni Mill, Rockbridge Mill and Hammond Mill. Restaurants are located at both Dawt and Rockbridge, so plan to make one of those stops during lunchtime. Be sure to bring a camera, as the mills make great backdrops for photos.

Located just 30 miles from Pontiac, Mountain Home, Arkansas, offers shopping (larger stores such as TJ Maxx, Hobby Lobby, Home Depot, Lowe’s and Wal-Mart, as well as local shops, boutiques and plenty of antique stores and flea markets), restaurants (local eateries as well as popular chains), miniature golf, a wonderful public library, movie theatres, farmers market, the Mountain Home Berry Farm (where you can pick your own blueberries or pumpkins when in season), Cooper Park, special events and a regional medical center/hospital.
