Wings! We love 'em. And we want to find out who can make the BEST wings around. Just Jackie’s is hosting the annual Pontiac Wing Cook-Off, and we want YOU to enter! Anyone can enter. There is no fee. And everyone is invited to come out and taste all the wings you can handle for just $15 and then vote on your very favorites. Proceeds will go to the Pontiac Fireworks. Anyone entering the contest should deliver a minimum of two dozen wings (more would be better, as we had nearly 100 taste-testers last year) to Just Jackie’s by 12:45 p.m. Please provide a serving utensil for your wings. JJ’s will be serving soft drinks, beer and wine, and the kitchen will also be open. Enjoy live music by Half Step Down during the event. See you there!

This two-person tournament is open to anyone. Cost to enter is $100 plus $10 for the Big Bass pot per team. Fishermen are encouraged to bring young fishermen (16 years and younger) as their partners, and all young fishermen will be recognized. At least the top five places will receive cash prizes. A portion of the proceeds goes to Gainesville High School FBLA and FFA chapters.

Don’t miss a chance to have your boat blessed for the season. The Blessing will take place at 2 p.m. on the lake. (Time and location subject to change based on weather.) Join us afterward at the Lake Bums Brew Co. for live music starting at 4 p.m. and a fish fry fundraiser starting around 5 p.m. Proceeds from the fish fry go to the Pontiac Firework Fund. Buy a commemorative Blessing of the Fleet T-shirt and help us raise money for the Pontiac Fireworks on Labor Day weekend. We hope to see you there!

Join us for the 13th Annual Pontiac Cove 5K and Fun Run/Walk! Cost is $25 for adults, $20 for kids. All kids 12 and under will be recognized, receive a medal and a goodie bag. ALL walkers, runners, joggers, crawlers, stroller pushers, dog walkers, etc. are welcome and invited to join us. This is a really fun and great way to kick of Memorial Day Weekend. Refreshments will be provided for all participants. Medals will be awarded to the winners in each age category. All participants are eligible to win a door prize. (Entry forms will be available closer to the event.) Proceeds from the event will go to the Pontiac Firework Fund.

Cost is $25 per diver. Take-off is at 8 a.m. from Pontiac Cove Marina; weigh-in is from 2 to 3 p.m. at Hollingsworth Cove (location subject to change based on lake level).  Prizes and awards will be handed out on the deck at Just Jackie’s after the weigh-in. All divers and their families are welcome to attend.

Don’t miss the BEST fireworks display on Bull Shoals Lake on Labor Day weekend. The show begins at dark (around 8:30). The fireworks can be viewed from the lake or the shoreline around Pontiac Cove.
